Presented by Gogi Dance Collective
Gogi Dance Collective brings you SIREN, a short pop-up performance unfolding across six of the Sunshine Coast’s breathtaking beaches during Horizon Festival.
This 15-minute site-specific dance performance features four nationally renowned female dancers and investigates our human relationship to the environment and the need to revive and foster a connection back to nature. The combination of dance, wearable art and an original sound composition delivers an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages as they stroll along the beach.
Gogi Dance Collective was inspired to create SIREN during the Covid-19 pandemic, when the world was forced to slow down. While people were spending more time outside and participating in wholesome activities, single use plastic consumption rapidly increased as businesses were forced to reject reusable alternatives. In response, SIREN highlights the social responsibility of plastic waste management by exploring the effect it has on marine ecosystems.
Ultimately a story of hope for the future, SIREN is playful, powerful and poetic.
